Pet Identifications (Microchip)

Pet Identifications (Microchip)

ParkView Animal Hospital recommends HomeAgain Microchips as a permanent identification for your dog or cat.

HomeAgain pet microchip and pet id

How it works:

Our veterinarian  injects a tiny microchip about the size of a grain of rice (12mm) beneath the surface of your pet's skin between the shoulder blades. The is similar to a routine shot and takes only a few seconds. No anesthetic is required and it will last throughout the life of your pet. The microchip is read by passing a scanner over the pet's shoulder blades. The scanner reads the chip and displays the pets' unique code. HomeAgain is the only microchip on the market today that has the BioBond patented anti-migration feature to help ensure that the microchip will stay in place so that it is easily located and scanned. If your pet gets lost and is taken to an animal shelter or veterinarian, they will scan the pet and retrieve the identification number. They will then call HomeAgain and give them the number, which is used to contact you and reunite you with your pet.

  • 10 milliion pets get lost every year.
  • More than 90% of pets lost without ID are never returned.
  • With HomeAgain Lost Pet Recovery Service, more than 500,000 lost pets have been recovered.
  • Microchipping is a permanent, entirely unalterable form of pet identification.
  • Shelters, humane societies and veterinarians are using microchip scanners in ever-increasing numbers.
  • Microchipping is inexpensive, safe, fast and virtually painless for a pet.
